As of January 1, 2014, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has mandated that all ICANN accredited registrars begin verifying the WHOIS contact information for all new domain registrations and Registrant contact modifications. What this means is that if you register a new domain name or change an email address in your existing domain name record, you will need to verify the change by responding to an email message that will be sent to the new address on record. The message will contain a link to name-services.com where the verification happens.
Verification of the email address is required for domain names to remain active. You have a 15 day window from the time of the original registration or contact change to verify the email address. After 15 days, the domain name(s) will be suspended until the e-mail address is verified.
